Windows
What you need
- Windows 10 (version 1607) or later, or Windows 11.
- A 64-bit or 32-bit PC. The download page picks the right installer for your PC.
On an older version of Windows, see older systems for the last release that still runs there.
Install
- Go to filestar.com/download and choose Windows. You get a file named like
Filestar.29.0.0.0.win-x64.AbCd1.exe- keep the last part of the name, it carries your download key. - Run it. The installer and everything it installs are signed by Bosma Interactive AB, the company behind Filestar.
- Choose whether to install Filestar for all users of the PC (this asks for an administrator) or only for you, and follow the steps.
Filestar is installed in Program Files\Filestar (for all users) or in your own programs folder (only for you), with a shortcut in the Start menu and on the desktop. It starts when the installation is done.
Updates
Filestar checks for a new version when it starts. A new major version installs by itself the next time you start Filestar; for a smaller update it asks when you close Filestar. You can also look for one at any time: see How to Update Filestar.
Uninstall
Open Settings, then Apps (or Apps & features), find Filestar and choose Uninstall.
