macOS
What you need
- macOS 12 Monterey or later.
- A Mac with an Intel processor or Apple silicon (M1 and later). On Apple silicon Filestar runs through Rosetta 2; if Rosetta is not installed yet, macOS offers to install it the first time.
On an older macOS, see older systems for the last release that still runs there.
Install
- Go to filestar.com/download and choose macOS. You get an installer package named like
Filestar.29.0.0.0.osx-x64.AbCd1.pkg- keep the last part of the name, it carries your download key. - Open it and follow the steps. The package is signed by Bosma Interactive and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it without warnings.
- Enter your Mac's administrator password when the installer asks for it.
Filestar is installed in the Applications folder and starts when the installation is done.
If the installation fails, or you denied Filestar access to something by mistake, see macOS troubleshooting.
Updates
Filestar checks for a new version when it starts. Installing an update asks for your administrator password, as the first installation did. You can also look for one at any time: see How to Update Filestar.
Uninstall
Quit Filestar and drag Filestar from the Applications folder to the Trash.
