About Filestar*

We help you get more shit done. Spend less time messing around with files, and more doing productive things. The Filestar* way.

The Filestar* story

We live in an insanely fast-developing tech-savvy world. Still, a few years back, in 2018, amazingly little had happened to the way we work with files since the modern desktop came. Millions of people still struggled with frustrating file conversions and transforming large volumes of files. Why wasn’t there a go-to software that safely and effortlessly could solve any daily file-related task?

So our founders, who are productivity nerds, set out to build a solution like that. A software that could do anything with any file on any platform. Filestar* was born.

What we do

At Filestar* we will work tirelessly to fulfil our mission: Enable you to do anything with any file on any platform. Ambitious yes, but hey, that’s just who we are.

We don’t want you to frustrate over file formats that you can’t open. Or waste time on finding a new software every time you have a new file type to convert - that might not even solve your problem in the end. Or having to settle for some random software that you’d rather not spend your precious files through.

We get all that. And we have made it our mission to free you from time-wasting and boring repetitive file formatting tasks.

What we value

At Filestar we value many things, but three things are at the top of our list. For one, we value your data privacy and security. We assure that we do all we can to protect your files when using Filestar. Secondly, we value your time. We want to help you do more in less time, minimize frustrations and make daily tasks a breeze. And third, we value simplicity. That’s why we love and use a Google search manner in our software. You just type in what you want to do to a file in the search box and get on with it. Simple as that.

The F* brand

We work hard to be the star of files. So that’s our name: Filestar*. The star (*) in our logo is a sign often used by computer scientists as a joker sign, for example, to search in databases. It means that the keyword is not complete, and the star stands for a sequence of optional characters. You’ve probably seen it with file formats too, like *.pdf or *.doc.

The star also happens to be the sign for a nature reserve. Something that we, with our Swedish roots and love for the Nordic nature, cherish.

But we don’t say F* about the fact that the star is also used to censor offensive words.
