Cursor
Cursor's agent uses Filestar through the MCP server that comes with the Filestar CLI (filestarcli mcp).
Add it
filestarcli agent install --agent cursorOr add it by hand to Cursor's global MCP file, keeping any servers that are already there:
| System | File |
|---|---|
| Windows | %USERPROFILE%\.cursor\mcp.json |
| macOS and Linux | ~/.cursor/mcp.json |
{
"mcpServers": {
"filestar": {
"command": "filestarcli",
"args": ["mcp"]
}
}
}For one project only, put the same entry in .cursor/mcp.json in the project's folder instead.
If Cursor cannot start the server, use the full path to the CLI as command (where filestarcli on Windows, which filestarcli on macOS and Linux), or "command": "npx" with "args": ["-y", "filestar", "mcp"].
Restart Cursor
Restart Cursor, then check Cursor Settings › MCP: filestar should be listed with its tools. Ask the agent:
Resize the images in assets/ to 1200 pixels wide.
Remove it
filestarcli agent uninstall --agent cursor
