- UFO is a font file format developed by Tal Leming for use by font editors. It is a cross-platform, open source format that stores font data in an XML format, allowing for greater flexibility and accessibility of font data.
- SFD (Spline Font Database) is the native, text-based source format of the FontForge font editor. It stores a font's glyph outlines, metrics, kerning, OpenType tables and editing state, so a font can be reopened and edited losslessly and then exported to TrueType, OpenType, WOFF or Type 1.
