- Timed Text Markup Language (TTML) is an XML-based subtitle and caption format standardised by the W3C. It stores the text of each caption together with its timing, position and styling, and is used for broadcast, streaming and online video.
- PJS (Phoenix Japanimation Society) is a plain-text subtitle format. Each caption is a line of start,end,text, with times in tenths of a second.
