- Description
- The Truevision Targa file format, commonly abbreviated as TGA, is a raster graphics file format primarily used for digital images. Developed by Truevision Inc. in the early 1980s, TGA files are well-regarded for their ability to store detailed and high-quality images, including support for alpha channels for transparency. They are often used in various applications such as video editing, animation, and video game textures due to their flexibility and depth of color representation. Although not as widely utilized as formats like JPEG or PNG for web graphics, TGA files remain a popular choice in professional environments where image quality and precision are paramount.
- Based on HEVC (High-Efficiency Video Coding), the HEIF format is an image file container with one or multiple images and is the default image format for Apple Live Photos. It replaced the JPEG format as it's smaller in size and has lossless compression ensuring high-quality photos.
