- Description
- Smacker Video (.smk) is a video file format developed for use in video games, designed to deliver synchronized audio and video with efficient compression on low-end hardware. It was especially popular in the 1990s and early 2000s for cutscenes and in-game full-motion video. The format supports multiple audio tracks and palette-based video compression optimized for CPU playback without dedicated hardware acceleration.
- Animated Portable Network Graphics (APNG) is a file format which extends the Portable Network Graphics (PNG) specification to permit animated images that work similarly to animated GIF files, while supporting 24-bit images and 8-bit transparency not available for GIFs. It also retains backward compatibility with non-animated PNG files.
