- A SAS7BDAT file is a SAS dataset: a data table with variable labels and display formats, as SAS writes it.
- A Parquet file is a columnar data table: each column is stored on its own, compressed and typed, so analytics tools can read only the columns they need. It is the common exchange format of data lakes, Spark, pandas and DuckDB.
