- The RPGM file format, short for Portable Greyscale Map, is a type of image file that specifically stores greyscale graphics or images. It is designed to represent images in various shades of gray, ranging from black to white, without any color information. This file format is typically used in applications or environments where color is not necessary or desired, such as certain types of scientific imaging, document scanning, or specific graphic design projects. RPGM files are part of the Netpbm format collection, which also includes formats for black-and-white and color images.
- Based on HEVC (High-Efficiency Video Coding), the HEIF format is an image file container with one or multiple images and is the default image format for Apple Live Photos. It replaced the JPEG format as it's smaller in size and has lossless compression ensuring high-quality photos.
