- Description
- id RoQ is a proprietary video (and audio) container format developed for use in video games. It uses a custom codec combining vector quantization for video and a simple compression scheme for audio, designed for fast decoding on limited hardware. It was used in several id Software games such as Quake III Arena and Return to Castle Wolfenstein to play full-motion video cutscenes.
- File extension ptif is mainly associated with the Pyramid encoded TIFF bitmap graphics file format. Multi-resolution TIFF containing successively smaller versions of the image down to the size of an icon.
