- The PNTG file type is associated with Mac Paint, a pioneering graphics editing program developed for the Macintosh computer in the mid-1980s. It was one of the first widely used bitmap-based painting programs, allowing users to create and edit black-and-white images with a variety of drawing tools. PNTG files contain the graphical data created within Mac Paint, storing the pixel information that composes the image. Despite its historical significance in the evolution of digital art and graphic design software, Mac Paint and the PNTG format are largely obsolete, replaced by more advanced graphics formats and editing software.
