- Description
- The PNT file type is primarily associated with MacPaint, an early graphics painting software developed by Apple Inc. for their Macintosh computers. Introduced in the mid-1980s, MacPaint was among the first programs to bring bitmap graphics editing to a personal computer, allowing users to create and edit black-and-white images with a simplistic user interface. PNT files store the bitmap images created in MacPaint, encapsulating the simplistic yet iconic graphics that were a hallmark of early Macintosh applications. Despite its discontinuation, the PNT format remains a piece of digital art history from the dawn of personal computing.
- Based on HEVC (High-Efficiency Video Coding), the HEIF format is an image file container with one or multiple images and is the default image format for Apple Live Photos. It replaced the JPEG format as it's smaller in size and has lossless compression ensuring high-quality photos.
