The PMP file type is associated with the Sony DSC-F1 Cyber-shot, one of the early digital cameras released by Sony. This file format was specifically used by the camera to store photographed images. PMP files contain image data captured by the camera, allowing for storage and later viewing of the photos. Being proprietary to Sony, these files were primarily managed and viewed using software provided by Sony or compatible third-party applications designed to recognize the PMP format.
Based on HEVC (High-Efficiency Video Coding), the HEIF format is an image file container with one or multiple images and is the default image format for Apple Live Photos. It replaced the JPEG format as it's smaller in size and has lossless compression ensuring high-quality photos.
