- This format was developed by Kodak in order to store images on optical or other media. It is used as a format for archiving scanned documents on Kodak devices. It encodes images in 24-bit color and supports resolutions of up to 6144x4096 pixels.

Psion Series 3, a range of personal digital assistants (PDAs) developed in the early 1990s, utilized these files to store and display electronic books (eBooks). TCR files are designed to be compact to suit the limited storage capacities of early PDAs.
