- The MH (Modified Huffman) file type is associated with fax documents, particularly those conforming to the T.4 standard for fax transmission over telephone lines. It employs a compression method known as Modified Huffman coding, which is a form of run-length encoding used to efficiently compress the monochrome images typically found in fax documents. This compression technique helps in reducing the file size without losing the essential details of the faxed document, facilitating faster transmission speeds. MH files are part of the broader group of fax file formats, which also includes MR (Modified Read) and MMR (Modified Modified Read), each offering different levels of compression and quality.
- Based on HEVC (High-Efficiency Video Coding), the HEIF format is an image file container with one or multiple images and is the default image format for Apple Live Photos. It replaced the JPEG format as it's smaller in size and has lossless compression ensuring high-quality photos.
