- A MAT-file holds the variables saved from a MATLAB session: numeric arrays such as matrices and images, text, cell arrays and structs. Files saved with -v7.3 are HDF5 files behind a MATLAB header. Unity and Unreal material files use the .mat extension too, but they are a different format.
- A WMV file is a video file based on the Microsoft Advanced Systems Format (ASF) container format and compressed with Windows Media compression. It contains video encoded with one of Microsoft's Windows Media Video (WMV) proprietary codecs and is similar to an .ASF file.
