- A MAT-file holds the variables saved from a MATLAB session: numeric arrays such as matrices and images, text, cell arrays and structs. Files saved with -v7.3 are HDF5 files behind a MATLAB header. Unity and Unreal material files use the .mat extension too, but they are a different format.
- The PLT file extension is a vector-based plotter file developed by Autodesk, Inc. to contain plotting details from a certain CAD or computer-aided design file.
