It primarily uses the LZSS algorithm and Huffman coding for compression, enabling the efficient packaging of multiple files and directories into a single, smaller file. Initially designed for use in the DOS operating system, LHA became popular in Japan and was widely adopted for software distribution on platforms such as Amiga and early versions of Windows.
