It adheres to the CALS (Continuous Acquisition and Life-cycle Support) initiative aimed at improving the efficiency of technical data management. MIL files, being raster images, are composed of pixels, making them suitable for detailed graphics like scanned documents and technical drawings. This format is designed for interoperability and long-term digital preservation, ensuring that documents can be accessed and remain readable over extended periods.
