- Description
- The Apollo HDRU (High Dynamic Range Image) file type, with the extension .hdru, is a specific format used for storing high dynamic range (HDR) images. These files are designed to capture a broader range of brightness and color levels than standard digital imaging formats, allowing for more detailed and realistic representations of scenes with significant contrasts in lighting. The Apollo HDRU format is particularly used within the realm of digital photography, computer graphics, and advanced imaging applications where capturing the fullest possible range of light information is crucial. This format helps in preserving the quality of images for professional editing, rendering, and display purposes, ensuring that details in both the brightest and darkest areas of a photo are maintained.
- Based on HEVC (High-Efficiency Video Coding), the HEIF format is an image file container with one or multiple images and is the default image format for Apple Live Photos. It replaced the JPEG format as it's smaller in size and has lossless compression ensuring high-quality photos.
