- Description
- The .fon format is a Windows font resource file that stores bitmap (raster) fonts or acts as a container referencing font data for use by older Windows applications. It is commonly used for legacy screen fonts, especially fixed-size bitmap fonts used in older Windows GUI elements and MS-DOS era applications. Modern Windows systems retain support for .fon files mainly for backward compatibility with legacy software.
- An OTF file is a font file saved in the OpenType format developed by Adobe and Microsoft. It combines aspects of the PostScript and TrueType font formats. OTF fonts are fully scalable, meaning the characters can be resized without losing quality.
