- A CFF file is a bare Compact Font Format font program, the compact form of an Adobe PostScript Type 1 or CID-keyed font that uses Type 2 charstrings. It is the same data an OpenType font stores in its 'CFF ' table, without the surrounding OpenType wrapper, so it is usually extracted from or embedded into OTF fonts and PDF files.
