AVS (Application Visualization System) file is a graphics file for Stardent AVS X image visualization. It is currently available on several platforms but it was originally developed only by the Stardent computer.
The VICAR (Video Image Communication And Retrieval) Image file format is a flexible, image-processing and data format system used primarily by the planetary science community. Developed by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) for storing and managing digital images from space missions, VICAR files are designed to support a wide range of image types, including scientific and engineering data from various spacecraft instruments.
