How AI skills work

Most of Filestar's AI skills run locally: the AI model is downloaded to your computer the first time you use a skill, and from then on your files are processed on your own machine. Nothing is uploaded.

Local AI skills are unlimited with a subscription. They don't use consumption credits, so there is no meter running while you translate a long document, transcribe a podcast or remove the background from a thousand product photos.

A few skills, such as vectorizing raster images, still run in our cloud. Those are charged in consumption credits, and the price is shown on each skill above.

Large files take longer on an older computer, and Remove Vocals and Split Stems runs on Windows and Mac.
