Images can be converted back and forth between JPEG XL and JPEG without loss of quality. Converting a regular JPEG to JPEG XL reduces the file size by 22%. JPEG XL files can be used to store any type of image content.; A DDS file is a raster image saved in the DirectDraw Surface (DDS) container format. It can store compressed and uncompressed pixel formats and is often used for texturing video game unit models. DDS files may also be used to store Windows desktop backgrounds or wallpapers.
