Digital Speech Standard（DSS）は、Olympus、Philips、Grundigの共同事業であるInternational Voice Associationが定めた、独自の圧縮デジタル音声ファイル形式です。DSSは1994年にGrundigとUniversity of Nurembergによって開発されました。1997年には、従来のコーデックを基にしたDigital Speech Standardが公開されました。主にデジタル口述録音機で使われます。現在の心理音響コーデックは、わずかに高いビットレートでほぼ同等の性能を発揮するため、近年の音声録音機器ではこの音声符号化規格の使用が減っています。
8SVXファイル形式は「8-Bit Sampled Voice」の略で、主にAmigaコンピューターシステムで使われる音声ファイル形式です。さまざまな種類のマルチメディアを格納できる汎用コンテナ形式として設計されたElectronic Arts Interchange File Format（IFF）の一部として開発され、8SVXファイルには8ビットのモノラル音声サンプルが保存されます。楽曲や効果音など、デジタル化された音声データを格納できることが特徴です。
