Un fichier DCM est un fichier image enregistré au format Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM). Il contient une image médicale, comme un scanner ou une échographie. Les fichiers DCM peuvent également inclure des informations sur le patient afin d’associer l’image à celui-ci.
VIPS est un format de fichier de libvips principalement utilisé pour les calculs, mais il peut aussi stocker des images. Son principal avantage est l’absence de limite de taille ; il est rapide et simple. Cependant, la plupart des applications ne peuvent pas l’afficher, et la conversion vers un format plus courant est donc le seul moyen de contourner cette limitation.
