- PCF (Portable Compiled Format) ist ein binäres Bitmap-Schriftformat, das vom X Window System verwendet wird. Es speichert bereits gerasterte Glyphen für schnelles Laden und Darstellen und ist dadurch effizient für Displayserver. PCF-Schriften werden häufig als Schriftarten für Konsolen und ältere X11-Anwendungen verwendet.
- TTF ist ein von Apple entwickeltes Schriftdateiformat, das sowohl auf Macintosh- als auch auf Windows-Plattformen verwendet wird. Die Schrift lässt sich ohne Qualitätsverlust auf jede Größe skalieren und sieht im Druck genauso aus wie auf dem Bildschirm.
