Convert image sequences into animated video
This article continues the animation theme from last week’s post on how to create animated WebP from video.
Want to create a timelapse from a series of photos? Upload your stop-motion photography to YouTube? Or create a simple slideshow video from images?
The reasons for converting a series of images to video are many, and Filestar can turn most image formats (such as jpeg, png and WebP) into video. The goal of Filestar is to be your intuitive digital Swiss army knife.
Converting png sequences to Google’s video format for the web, WebM, is a common use-case. WebM is a good match for png since both formats support transparency, i.e the alpha channel is preserved in the resulting video. WebM with transparency is supported by all major browsers except for Safari. Css-tricks has written an article on how to use transparent video on the web with cross-browser support.
Jpeg to mp4 with H.264 is another common conversion, a good choice when good browser support is desired and transparency isn’t needed.
Simply select a bunch of images and type “convert to mp4” (or another video format) to get started.
