An EXP file is an embroidery CAM (computer aided manufacturing) file saved in the Melco EXP format. It contains codes that tell the needle of a commercial sewing machine how to create an embroidery. EXP files may also be saved in the Bernina USB EXP format, which is used for embroideries made by personal sewing machines.
This is a bitmap graphics file format created for printers and terminals by Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC). It is another extension of the SIXEL file.
