- An EXP file is an embroidery CAM (computer aided manufacturing) file saved in the Melco EXP format. It contains codes that tell the needle of a commercial sewing machine how to create an embroidery. EXP files may also be saved in the Bernina USB EXP format, which is used for embroideries made by personal sewing machines.
- 1-bit black and white image; formatted in text format; basic raster image format in which each pixel is represented by a byte that contains a 1 or 0; 1 represents black and 0 represents white pixels.
