Most Sony digital cameras capture raw images which are later converted into other more enhanced formats. The raw images by the Sony cameras are in the SR2 file format, and this makes them compatible with most applications.
The only issue with the raw images taken using Sony cameras is that they are two to six times bigger than processed image formats. This is one of the primary reasons these images have to turn into JPEG because the conversion compresses them.
Sony raw images are compatible with most converting programs, and this makes their manipulation much easier. The images give you the freedom to bypass some undesired steps when using your camera, such as sharpening. The base data allows the images to appear in different panels, even without conversion.
The sensor's photo-receptive elements of these images are also higher compared to developed images. Most Sony cameras use sensors with hexagonal element displacement, and this plays an integral role in increasing pixels on the raw images.
Photoshop, Corel AfterShot Pro, XnViewerMP, and Microsoft Photos are among the programs that can open SR2 files.
