Flash Video (FLV) is a container format developed by Adobe Systems and is mainly used to deliver digital content. It delivers the content over the internet by use of Adobe Flash Player. The FLV file may have SWF files and both are encoded in the same format. It’s compressed using the VP6 Video compression format.
It’s used for high-quality video format used by most inserted videos on the Internet. Most websites like Reuters.com, YouTube and Hulu use this file format for their videos. Adobe Flash Professional is now referred to as Animate Files hence this file format adopts the name Animate Video File.
Its compression requires the use of patents in restricting the FLV file format. FLV can be viewed on most operating systems using the Adobe Flash player and Web_browserPlug ins. The fact that Adobe will no longer support flash after 2020 has led to many web streaming websites to shift their focus. Facebook, Youtube, and Netflix have started using the newer HTML5.
Files of the FLV format are made by the use of Flash Video Exporter which is included in Adobe animate. This feature makes the program to open the file pretty well. Vlc, mpc andanvsoft web flv player applications support the FLV file format among others.
