Canon Raw Images (Cr2) are files that store images taken by the Canon camera. The files are saved in an uncompressed format, and they remain as the camera sensor captured them. The pictures in the CR2 are referred to as RAW images because they are unprocessed, not ready for edit or print with a bitmap graphics editor.
The Cr2 design by Canon has features that based on Tiff specification. The files are large and of high quality. Also, they can record up to 14-bits of RGB. It is one of the most common RAW formats used by professional photographers.
Poser, a 3D modeling program, can also create CR2 files. However, the Poser files don’t hold photos, but human joints and bone details.
Canon camera photos appear balanced in terms of their appearances. Cr2 files restore the exposure and white balance while still retaining the quality of the image. Images in these files can’t be viewed directly, as the JPEG format files because they are in their raw form.
