The SMP-1 format is a new kid on the block developed by Make Music, world leaders in music technology. Their application SmartMusic has transformed how music is composed, learned, taught, and performed. It’s the industry standard for music notation applications. Musicians, teachers, students, composers, and publishers use it to edit, audition, print and publish music scores. The application can be accessed using both Android and Apple phones making it one of the leading solutions for music elearning.
The SMP-1 stands for SmartMusic Performance file format. This audio file stores band, orchestra, vocal pieces, and background accompaniments used by teachers and students to learn and give feedback on performances. Teachers can store individual student performances and instructions to improve in these files.
SMP-1 files combine MIDI sequences and score notations written by MakeMusic notation editor Finale. They are optimized to allow students to practice and assess their skills as well as to help orchestra players horn their skills.
The SmartMusic software files are all saved in the SMP-1 format. You can open these files with the MakeMusic SmartMusic apps on either Mac or Windows.
